"Old School New Art - Craftsmanship: Today's Avant-Garde" - Jeffrey T. Larson
This is the final chapter of Jeffrey T. Larson’s book, “Old School New Art”. We will slowly be working on the process of having this series published in the coming days so that you can someday hold a hard copy. As always, we are so thankful for any and all feedback and would love to hear your desires for this newsletter as we wrap up this book portion.
A significant issue in contemporary realism/naturalism is the excessive influence that curators, gallery directors, editors, writers, publishers, and jurors hold as the primary gatekeepers for artists' work selection, display, and promotion. While they are well-meaning and often well-educated in the arts, the problem lies in the fact that most of them are not professional, practicing artists. They lack the trained eye to discern the nuances between good and great art and often struggle to differentiate between amateur and high-quality work.
